And Winter Just Keeps on Coming
February 26, 2008 13:15:44

With temps to be down in the teens tonight and tomorrow in the twenties for a high it is certainly still winter time. I guess about this time everyone starts getting a little tired of it all. At least we have not had it as bad as places farther to the north. Madison, Wisconsin has had about 8 feet of snow this year which is a lot more than normal with lots of cold temps. I suppose it will make for a whole new group of global warming deniers.

What has been unusual this year is we have really not had any periods of moderation to speak of. Winter moved in in earnest in December and is still with us. Usually we get some kind of break where it gets pretty nice for a couple of weeks or maybe just a week but that has not happened this year. We have not had lots of snow but we have had cold temperatures. Daytime highs often not above freezing. In some ways this is good because in spite of the snow and rain I can still get out and cut firewood because I don't have to worry about getting stuck in the mud. It was about 40 on Sunday and the yard was just a muddy mess to try to walk across.

I ran into a friend yesterday in town who told me he believes we are in for another ice age. Whenever winter is especially hard it seems like idle people start saying such things. So, I decided to do a google search using coming ice age. I got lots of results with links to sites about the coming ice age. So it looks like there is still plenty to read while the cold night persist.
